Meet the Hosts

Christina

I’m Christina, and I’m a one-and-done reader—once I turn the last page of a book, I’m ready for something new. Re-reading? That’s a rare event. I don’t take notes while reading, either… or at least, I didn’t, until this podcast gave me an excuse to sharpen my skills.

I have a habit of juggling eight or nine books at once, which some people might call chaotic, but I call efficient. My favorite genres? Murder mystery and trashy romance. But honestly, I’ll read just about anything that catches my interest. I have Kindle Unlimited and read on my phone most of the time, but if a book really speaks to me, I have to own the print copy.

There’s one book, though, that stands out above the rest—To Kill a Mockingbird. It wasn’t just a great read; I find something new that surprises me every time I read it.

When it comes to book-to-movie adaptations, I have strong feelings: the book is almost always better. If you disagree… well, let’s talk, because I’ve got opinions.

When Krysta originally came to me with the idea for this podcast, I jumped on board immediately. Getting to sit down every week, talk books, girl talk, and argue (just a little) has been one of the best parts of my week.

Beyond reading, I love working with my hands. My husband and I run two businesses—his focuses on IT & AV, while mine, Bundle Creations, is all about crafty home décor that I design and build in my shop. Whether it’s power tools or page-turners, I like getting my hands on something creative. Thanks for coming along with us on our journey.

Krysta

I’m Krysta, and while I read incredibly fast, I don’t have nearly enough time to read as much as I’d like. My reading style? Slow. Fragmented. Sporadic. But when I do get the chance, I disappear into a book completely.

There are a couple of books I’ve read more times than I can count—Harry Potter and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe are at the top of that list. My go-to genres? Sci-Fi and mystery all the way. I love a good, mind-bending, futuristic adventure or a twisty thriller that keeps me guessing. (My husband, on the other hand, is just waiting for the day Christina picks the books.)

One book that completely surprised me? Dan Brown’s Deception Point. I went in with no expectations, and it completely blew me away.

Unlike Christina, I refuse to read anything unless a tree has sacrificed its life to bring me joy. I love physical books—the feel, the smell, the way they can be passed along to someone else when I’m done. E-books? Not for me.

If I could only recommend one book to everyone, it would be Andy Weir’s The Martian. It’s just superb. And if you’re into epic sci-fi series? The Expanse is absolutely worth the time.

More than anything, I love that this podcast gives me a chance to hang out with a friend. Life gets busy, and being able to step away from the daily grind to talk books, decompress, and just have fun is awesome.

When I’m not reading, I’m probably riding my bike, quilting, or snowboarding. My family and I also love exploring national parks—there’s nothing better than getting out in nature and seeing something breathtaking.

And if I could live in any book world? Hogwarts, no question. In my heart, I know I’m Hermione… but I wish I was Luna.
